Earlier this year, your Building Representatives submitted a proposal to modernize our lobby communication by transitioning from the legacy cork board to a digital bulletin board. The proposal outlined a zero‑cost implementation, using a TV donated by a resident and the free lobby Wi‑Fi already provided by Hotwire Communications.

As highlighted in the presentation:

“Change content in seconds from any device — no printing required.” “Push urgent notices — water shutoff, fire alarm, elevator outage — to the screen immediately.”

And importantly:

“TV display generously donated by a resident — no purchase needed.” “Lobby Wi‑Fi provided free by Hotwire Communications — already active and available.”

🗓 Board Decision (June 4, 2026)

At the June 4th Board meeting, the Board reviewed the proposal and discussed the idea in detail. After consideration, the Board decided not to move forward with digital signage at this time.

The Board shared several reasons for their decision:

1. Uniformity Across All Buildings

The Board expressed that all buildings should display the same type of notices. Introducing digital signage in only one building would create inconsistency.

2. Cost Concerns for a Community‑Wide Rollout

While our proposal demonstrated a $0 capital cost for Building 51, the Board noted that expanding the concept to all buildings could increase expenses.

3. Content Oversight

The Board raised concerns about who would manage digital updates, even though the proposal noted:

“Update the display from home — no need to be on‑site.” “Schedule content in advance — posts go live automatically.”

4. Update Method

Questions were raised about whether updates would require a thumb drive or other manual steps, despite the proposal’s remote‑update model.

5. Aesthetic Consistency

The Board stated that all buildings should “look the same,” even though each lobby currently has different décor and layouts.
